Initial Position

Muscles targetted: core, waist, lower back & inner thigh
Recommended speed: 4-6 (or make it harder with one of our Auto Programmes)
Recommended time: 5 minutes

Chrissie says:
Start with your feet on the Walking position to work your pelvic floor muscles and improve your balance. Then, keeping your back straight, move your feet to the jogging position to work more core and lower back muscles – and don’t forget, the wider your feet the more intense the work out! Relaxing into this position makes you use more muscles!
Tuck some strong, Sculpting Bands under your feet and lift your arms at the same time to reduce work out time, help improve your fitness and get a toned stomach faster!
Check out our YouTube videos for examples of exercises you can try (Chrissie Chanel Resistance Bands). You can also use weights if you are trained.

Tip: If your head is shaking too much, bring your feet closer to the middle until you get used to the movement and build more core muscles.

Abs & Obliques

Muscles targetted: core, waist, lower back & legs
Recommended speed: 5-8 (or make it harder with one of our Auto Programmes)
Recommended time: 1-2 minutes

Chrissie says:
Keep your right leg straight out in front of you, whilst bending your other knee toward your chest. Twist your waist and bend your right elbow so it touches your bent knee. Alternate at your own pace.

Tip: When you lift your legs off the floor, make sure you are sitting directly in the middle of the Maxburn, avoiding the buttons on the screen. Try not to roll on your tailbone!

Push Ups

Muscles targetted: core, waist, lower back & legs
Recommended speed: 8-10
Recommended time: 1 minute

Chrissie says:
Hands facing forward, bend elbows until your face is near the MAXhealth and push away. Do not straighten your arms fully if your arms are spread wide. Lift knees off the floor into a full Press Up Position to make it harder!

Tip: If you just want a shoulder massage, keep your elbows straight and your hands shoulder-width apart, keep your knees underneath your hips.

Side Plank

Muscles targetted: core, waist & legs
Recommended speed: 5-10
Recommended time: 30 seconds each side

Chrissie says:
This great Pilates move is great for a full body workout. The idea is to be directly inline with your hand and lift your hips as high as possible to make that core work! When you feel comfortable with the static position, try threading your top hand under your other arm and back up to really work the waist muscles.

Tip: To make it easier, keep your hand closer to the middle of the MAXhealth board and don’t forget to breath!

Single Leg Squat

Muscles targetted: legs, bum, foot & heart
Recommended speed: auto 3
Recommended time: 1 minute each leg

Chrissie says:
Place one foot on the MAXhealth in our climbing position (the further back the harder) and the other leg adjacent; the wider the better. Pull in your tummy to engage your core as you bend your knees and sit your bum back, like you are sitting in a chair. Move up and down at your own pace. Utilise our curve in the MAXhealth much like an incline on a running machine to build your endurance!

Tip: Make sure your knee is bent at a 90 degree angle and not turning inwards. Try this move in a mirror to check alignment and use a weight in front of you for counter balance.

Tricep Dips

Muscles targetted: triceps, wrists, forearms, core & heart
Recommended speed: 8-10
Recommended time: 1 minute

Chrissie says:
With your hands facing forwards, engage your core and push up and down at your own pace to work the arm and core muscles, keeping your head facing forward. Careful not to straighten arms fully. High speeds are great for circulation and targeting the loose skin areas.

Tip: The further away your feet are from your body the harder you have to work to lift up. Try putting your legs a little straighter every time you try this move!

Single Leg Lunge

Muscles targetted: legs, bum & heart
Recommended speed: auto 2/3
Recommended time: 1 minute each leg

Chrissie says:
Similar to the Single Leg Squat, this move really works your leg 5 times harder than on a stable surface. Keeping your back straight, move up and down slowly until you feel the burn! The best position to place your foot is in the centre of the board (Walking Position), this will not only work the muscles harder in your thighs, but it will also help you with your balance. By keeping your foot in the centre of the board it makes all the muscles in your feet engage, improving your walking alignment.

Tip: To protect your knee, slide your other leg back, until your bent knee is at a 90 degree angle. To help you balance, find a non-moving spot in front of you to hold your focus and don’t let your ankle roll behind you!

Plank

Muscles targetted: triceps, biceps, forearms, core, waist, lower back & legs
Recommended speed: 8-10
Recommended time: 1-2 minutes

Chrissie says:
This is the best move to tone your whole body! Place your elbows on the MAXhealth and your feet, hip-width apart behind you; pull in your stomach, lift your bum into the air, trying to create a straight line from your head to toe. The Oscillating action works your whole waist, as well as making your core work harder than on a stable surface. Because the MAXhealth energises you, the board does half the work for you! You are also working your upper arms and shoulders the most in this position.

Tip: If your head or neck is wobbling too much, bring your elbows closer to the centre of the board, and don’t let your shoulders sink. Keep the plastic cover on to make it feel softer on your elbows. Don’t be lazy and let your hips sink to the floor, as this will not help your back. Lift your bum higher in the air than you would do normally holding a plank on the floor and don’t forget to breath slowly and deeply, to feed oxygen to all of your hard working muscles!
